SERVICE
Secure, Extensible, and Reliable Virtual Instances of Computing Environments
The SERVICE research project aims to (1) create virtual computing environments which underprivileged schools may leverage to run educational software, and (2) provide software and curriculum for students in grades K-8 to learn programming. Recently, our work has focused on the program Storytelling Alice, a variant of Alice created by Caitlin Kelleher, which has been tailored for this very purpose. We have created a Linux port of the software and are working on porting our changes to the latest version of Alice so that our work will continue to be maintained.
The project is supported in part by CRA-W and CDC via the CREU program and by IBM.
